The next day was Thanksgiving.

It's a stupid holiday when you have nothing to be thankful for.

My mom made a turkey, and we sat silently around the dining room table, chewing.

I took a bite of stuffing and hated myself for doing it. Although I knew I deserved to suffer and die for what I had done, and starvation seemed like a good way to do it, I was too weak-willed. I had started eating again.

Our house was filled with the weight of suffocating silence. The air itself felt heavy. Breathing took effort; talk was almost impossible.

"I can honestly say that Searching for David's Heart was one of the best books that I have ever read! It's the kind of story that has everyone sobbing throughout the ending (and other sad parts throughout the book). It's the kind of story that tugs at the heartstrings and stays with you. And when it's over, you are left with a feeling of warm loving hope."

"This book was wonderful! It made me cry. When Darcy loses her brother she feels like it is all her fault. Her best friend Sam and her are planning to go to Miami to find the boy who has her brother's heart. Will they make it all the way to Miami alone and find the boy? I don't want to spoil the ending — read this book!!!"
Noelle R., Age 10, U.S.A., Rating: 10

"This was my all-time favourite book. Searching for David's Heart was heart-warming, touching, funny, and adventurous, all at the same time! Boy or girl, I recommend this book to anyone."
Megan M., Age 12, U.S.A., Rating: 10

"I love this book so much. I don't normally read but I needed to read a book for a school book report... I was babysitting as I was reading the end of it... when Darcy says that it was her brother's heart that was keeping this kid alive and when they meet at the airport... I started crying. When the parents came home I was just sitting there bawling my eyes out with the book in my hand. It is really inspiring and a great book. If you are like me and liked it a lot check out the movie on it also called Searching For David's Heart. I haven't seen it yet but I am hoping to do so soon."

"This book was really good. The characters, especially Sam, had very interesting characteristics. With most books the characters are very shallow, but with this one you got to know them fairly well. It was very touching, and after reading this book it, sticks with you for a long time."

"I think Searching for David's Heart is a WONDERFUL book. The first time I read it was with my class in 5th grade! We thought it was GREAT and SAD but we LOVED to think about it because it could remind you of a loved one who is dead, but not in a bad way, in a good way...like the good times you had together and other things, and sometimes you would read the book ’cause you feel sad!!!!"
Alexis F., Age 10, U.S.A., Rating: 10

"I just loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee... this book because it is soooo sweet and it's like a true story for someone loved!!!"
Marie H., Age 15, U.S.A, Rating: 10

"I thought that book was fantabulous! This book really touched me, and it taught me one really important thing: be careful what you say, because you never know what might happen. It was a really excellent book, and I really could visualize everything."
