Gretzky's Game
by Mike Leonetti

Number 99 flew down the wing, cut across the middle of the ice past an Islander defenceman and slid a shot under goalie Billy Smith. 1 – 0 for the Oilers!

Ryan loves to play hockey. Every year, his dad makes a rink in the backyard and Ryan plays after school with his brother Jason. Ryan wants to make the select team, but because he's small for his age, he has to try extra hard. Ryan turns to another player considered too small to play hockey — his hero Wayne Gretzky — for inspiration. He follows Gretzky and the Oilers on their run to the Stanley Cup finals as they try to end the winning streak of the New York Islanders. Ryan learns that with hard work, you can do almost anything.
